How to make Greek oven-baked turkey meatballs stuffed with feta cheese
Have you ever made turkey meatballs?
Today I have another low carb and high protein Greek recipe using my favourite igredient; feta cheese! Many steps of this recipe are the exact same with those I have followed to make oven-baked meatballs from minced beef. The only differences are the baking temperature, the type of minced meat and the feta cheese!
A few facts and tips to make the best turkey meatballs!
- For those who follow a keto or low carb diet, this recipe contains 3.7 grams of net carbs per portion (4 meatballs). If you replace the onions with scallions, the net carbs will be reduced to 3.2 grams/ portion.
- Each portion contains 27g protein
- You can use any kind of minced meat you want following the same steps, just be aware of the temperature. Minced chicken and turkey need lower heat comparing to beef and lamb!
- Minced turkey is low in iron, so it’s alright to add dairy to your meatballs without worrying about iron absorption.
- Minced turkey and chicken have a very soft and watery constistency, so be patient and make sure you have completely removed the extra water from the soaked oats. You can use a sieve if you need to!
Spoiler alert: This is how the meatball stuffing will look like after baking!
