Black turtle beans and carrot stew
Black turtle beans and carrot stew
I tried black turtled beans last week for the first time and I loved them! The recipe was definitely worth uploading.I have used a pressure cooker for this recipe and please keep in mind that every brand is different! I followed the instructions for preparing legumes with a TOWER Stainless Steel pressure cooker.
Equipment
- pressure cooker
- stove
- water boiler
- stainless steel sieve
Ingredients
- 180 grams black turtle beans (raw, uncooked)
- 500 grams sliced frozen carrots
- 400 grams canned tomatoes
- 1 tbsp black cummin seeds
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Soak the beans overnight.
- Sieve the soaked beans to remove the water. Put the beans into the pressure cooker.
- Add approximately a cup of water in the pressure cooker. Make sure the water barely covers the lentils. Turn the heat on.
- Turn the heat off a minute after the beans start boiling.
- Sieve the beans to remove the water. Put the beans back into the pressure cooker.
- Heat 2 cups (1 litre) of water in the water boiler. Poor the boiling water in the pressure cooker. Add all the igredients except from the olive oil and the lemon juice and mix.
- Turn the heat on (high heat) and close the lid. Turn the pressure-limiting valve to ‘I’ (for low pressure).
- Wait until the safety open-preventing valve raises and reduce heat to very low.
- After 50 minutes, turn the heat off and remove the pressure cooker from the stove. Open the lid when the safety open-preventing valve falls down.Serve, add a tablespoon of olive oil and a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.
